DJI Inspire 2 Quadcopter Professional Filmmaking Kit

The Inspire 2 Quadcopter Professional Filmmaking Kit from B&H has been designed to give professional photographers and videographers a complete aerial solution in one package. The core of this kit surrounds the pairing of the DJI Inspire 2 quadcopter and Zenmuse X5S gimbal camera. The durable magnesium-aluminum-clad drone can reach speeds up to 58 mph while tracking fast-moving subjects, flying pre-planned routes, and more. Along the way, the Zenmuse gimbal can use a Micro Four Thirds sensor to record up to 5.2K resolution at 30 fps, or up to 4K at 60 fps, in addition to still images at up to 20.8MP.

The array of accessories included help you stay out in the field longer, helping to ensure that you capture the footage you’re after. Two 240GB CINESSD drives capture footage at up to 4.2 Gb/s, which you can offload to an optional waiting laptop via the included CINESSD station. With a total of eight intelligent batteries, you can fly and film for up to 3.6 hours. Professional pilots should enjoy the fine controls of the included Cendence controller and DJI Focus Handwheel 2. A Handwheel stand is also included to connect it to the Cendence.

Live streams can be viewed by the pilot and crew on the two included 7.85″ CrystalSky monitors. You also get five pairs of propeller blades in case of accidents, and the “professional” nameplate rounds out the kit to let you ID your Inspire on set or in a fleet of other drones.

DJI Inspire 2 Quadcopter with Apple ProRes License
DJI’s magnesium-aluminum-clad Inspire 2 Quadcopter is an effective cinematic and photographic tool. Combining the Inspire 2 with the separately available X4S and X5S gimbal cameras yields cinema-grade images, which can be recorded at high bit rates using H.264 and H.265 formats, or, in the case of the X5R, various flavors of Apple ProRes. It can also record CinemaDNG raw using the required license available from DJI. All the recording functionality is processed by the Inspire 2’s CineCore 2.0 image processing engine.

With ability to accelerate to 50 mph in 4 sec and reach a top speed of 58 mph, the Inspire 2 can follow fast-moving subjects for dramatic sports and action footage. With the two included LiPo batteries onboard, up to 27 minutes of flight time can be acheived on a full charge. The Inspire 2 also supports obstacle avoidance.

Built into DJI’s FlightAutonomy system, objects in front of, below, and above the quadcopter can be detected and avoided automatically. The Inspire 2 can even remember flight paths in case of an emergency return-to-home without GPS enabled. Using the onboard 2-axis stabilized FPV camera, the pilot can navigate the Inspire 2 without being limited to the gimbal camera’s field-of-view.

The Inspire 2 package comes with a charger, a transmitter controller, extra propellers, a calibration plate, and a carrying case.

Advanced Obstacle Sensing
Forward and downward vision systems enable the Inspire 2 to detect obstacles up to 98.4′ ahead, allowing for protected flight at up to 34 mph at a controllable attitude angle of 25°. Upward-facing infrared sensors scan obstacles 16′ above, adding protection when flying in enclosed spaces. Obstacle-sensing systems are active during normal flight, RTH, and all Intelligent Flight Modes.
Spotlight Pro
Spotlight Pro is a tracking mode that allows even single pilots to capture complex, dramatic images. It uses visual-tracking algorithms to lock onto a subject during flight, regardless of the direction that the Inspire 2 flies, creating shots that would once have required a dedicated camera operator. If the gimbal comes close to reaching its rotation limits, the Inspire 2 itself will rotate in the same direction without affecting flight control or the shot being captured to free up gimbal movement.

Spotlight Pro has two shooting modes: Quick Mode and Composition Mode. In Quick Mode, select an object to begin tracking. In Composition Mode, select the subject and the tracking position. When the subject enters the preset tracking position, press the shortcut to begin tracking. The gimbal can be moved during shooting for composition adjustments. Spotlight Pro is available in all Intelligent Flight Modes including ActiveTrack, TapFly, Waypoint and Point of Interest.
TapFly
The 2-axis onboard FPV camera separates the flight view from the main camera view, effectively giving the Inspire 2 a dedicated “tap-to-fly” camera. Tap a point onscreen in the FPV view to set a flight route and the Inspire 2 will automatically fly along that route, leaving the pilot to focus on gimbal movement.
ActiveTrack
The ActiveTrack Mode allows the Inspire 2 to recognize a range of objects, from people to bikes to cars to boats. Tracking profiles that can be adjusted based on the subject being tracked means improved tracking precision.
Smart Return Home
Forward and downward vision systems allow the Inspire 2 to create a real-time map of its flight route as it flies. If the video transmission system signal is lost and Smart Return Home is enabled, it is able to fly home along its original route and change to a straight line when it regains a signal. As it returns, it will use the primary camera to identify obstacles as far as 656′ in front, allowing it to plan a safe route home. It is can also reconnect more quickly after losing connection.
Video Transmission System
The Inspire 2 features DJI’s Lightbridge technology. This iteration has an effective transmission distance of up to 4.3 miles (under ideal conditions) and is capable of delivering both 1080p/720p videos as well as the FPV view to pilot and camera operator. Users can also switch between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz control frequencies to avoid interference for improved signal stability.

Master and Slave setups are also supported. The master controller can transmit a HD video signal to the slave controller up to 300′ away without image quality loss.
Broadcast Mode
Broadcasters can broadcast direct from the Inspire 2 using its dedicated 1080i50 and 720p60 transmission signal. Aerial live-streaming direct to TV is as simple as connecting the Inspire 2 transmitter to a satellite truck.
Flight Performance
The propulsion system can thrust the Inspire 2 up to 58 mph and allows for descents at up to 29 ft/sec and ascents at up to 19 ft/s. It can accelerate from 0 to 50 mph in just four seconds and flies at a max attitude angle of 40°. The two controller sticks on the transmitter are tuned for more sensitivity, making delicate maneuvers easier.
Dual Battery Design
Dual batteries mean that, if a problem occurs on one battery, the other is able to continue flight long enough for a safe landing. At the same time, the Inspire 2 propulsion system is driven by a PWM signal with serial port signal redundancy so that if PWM signals are lost, transmission will continue through the serial port.

DJI Zenmuse X5S
Equipped with an uprated Micro 4/3 sensor, the DJI Zenmuse X5S has a dynamic range of 12.8 stops with a much improved signal to noise ratio and color sensitivity than the X5R. Included here are the gimbal, camera, and lens.

The new CineCore 2.0 image processing system on the Inspire 2 makes the Zenmuse X5S capable of capturing 5.2K 30fps CinemaDNG video and Apple ProRes video, as well as 4K 60fps using H.264 and 4K 30fps using H.265 (both at 100Mbps). Continuous DNG burst shooting at 20fps with 20.8MP images is also supported. The Zenmuse X5S was designedto keep pace with the rigors of high-end professional aerial imaging.

DJI CINESSD for Inspire 2 Quadcopter (240GB)
The 240GB DJI CINESSD allows you to record video from your Inspire 2 at write speeds of up to 4.2 Gbps. When used with your Inspire 2, you can choose to record to CinemaDNG or Apple ProRes formats, but please note that either format requires an additional license key purchase from DJI. The CINESSD uses an NVMe logical device interface specification, features four PCI Express ports, and supports FAT32/exFAT file formats. Once the CINESSD is installed in your Inspire 2, settings and information can be accessed through the DJI GO 4 application, including resolution and field-of-view options. To export footage from your CINESSD to your computer for editing, you will also need a DJI CINESSD Station (sold separately).

DJI CINESSD Station for Inspire 2 Quadcopter (USB 3.0)
The DJI CINESSD Station is used to connect the DJI CINESSD into a computer for fast, efficient file transfer. Simply remove the CINESSD from your Inspire 2 quadcopter, insert it into the CINESSD Station, then connect the station to a computer via the included USB 3.0 cable. Once connected, you’ll be able to export the data from CINESSD onto your computer.

DJI CrystalSky 7.85″ High-Brightness Monitor
Flying drones in their natural outdoor environment requires a bright display, like the DJI CrystalSky 7.85″ High-Brightness Monitor for unhindered daylight viewing. The 1000 cd/m² bright touchscreen LCD screen is daylight viewable without requiring a hood. More than a monitor specifically designed for DJI products, the CrystalSky runs an Android OS and only comes loaded with the apps necessary for operating DJI devices. You won’t find any spam applications to slow the device down. Plus, the hardware is optimized for decoding video transmitted by DJI devices, reducing lag and improving picture quality. Aside from the streamlined interface, the CrystalSky acts as a mobile device with all the necessary DJI apps pre-loaded.

Note: The CrystalSky includes two Intelligent Batteries and a two-bay charging dock that requires a separately available charger. Chargers from the Inspire (1/2) and Phantom (3/4) will work. 57W Osmo and Phantom chargers don’t supply enough power to charge both the batteries and other devices simultaneoulsy. The Mavic Pro charger is not compatible.

Smooth Video Monitoring
The CrystalSky monitor uses optimized video decoding to decode video in real-time. Due to limitations in software access on smartphones and tablets, the video decoding abilities of other smart devices might be less than ideal. When used to view photos or videos transmitted by the camera, problems can occur including video jitter, unacceptably long latency, and more. The CrystalSky monitor’s optimized decoder provides smooth, real-time video feedback from compatible drones with minimal latency.
Dual microSD Card Recording
Load up microSD cards to expand the CrystalSky’s storage. Video can be recorded in H.264 or H.265 formats. With the ability to play back and edit 4K recorded video inside the CrystalSky, you can quickly share high-quality edited footage. Video can also be played back through the onboard HDMI output.
I/O and Network Connectivity
The CrystalSky monitor’s HDMI port allows up to 4K video to be output to FPV goggles and other display devices. Built-in dual band Wi-Fi means it can connect to Wi-Fi networks and Wi-Fi hotspots from mobile devices, and it is also compatible with 4G dongles and USB storage through its USB Type-A port.

When connected to the Internet, the CrystalSky monitor gets easy access to system upgrades, livestreaming, photo or video sharing, data synchronization, and more. File sizes are optimized as much as possible to minimize mobile data demands.

DJI Cendence Remote Controller
DJI’s Cendence Remote Controller is a professional transmitter for controlling the DJI Inspire 2 or Matrice 200 V1 Series aircraft. Five analog control channels and ten customizable buttons provide a flexible platform for precise flight and video controls. Right out of the box, the Cendence controller is compatible with CrystalSky monitors, thanks to the included monitor mounting bracket.

Furthermore, the controller is designed to be modular for interchangeable antennas and control stick accessories. In fact, the Cendence includes the DJI patch antenna for high-gain transmissions, improving reception and image quality. If you prefer to use the controller with your phone or tablet, a separately available mounting bracket can be used.

Customizable Buttons
Customizable buttons can quickly enable or disable frequently used functions like focus peaking, color waveform, obstacle avoidance, and home point resetting, or close warnings and tips midflight, all without using an app. You can also customize several shortcut buttons for particular groups of settings, or save frequently used settings.
Modular Design with CrystalSky Compatibility
The Cendence remote controller’s antennas, PCB, mounting bracket, and battery are all detachable, making its hardware easily upgradable and allowing you to customize the controller for compatibility with future DJI aircraft. A CrystalSky monitor can be mounted to the Cendence remote controller via the included Cendence Monitor Mounting Bracket.
Dual Operator Control
When precision camera control is required, the Cendence remote controller can connect as either a master or slave controller with the Inspire 2’s remote controller or another Cendence remote controller.
Battery System
Cendence uses a detachable battery that operates for up to four hours. If you run out of power, just swap in a charged battery or charge Cendence via the power port. Cendence uses the same batteries as CrystalSky monitors, unifying the two systems.

DJI TB50 Intelligent Flight Battery for Inspire 2 Quadcopter / Ronin 2 Gimbal
The DJI TB50 Intelligent Flight Battery is a replacement battery for your Inspire 2 quadcopter and is also compatible with the Ronin 2 gimbal. Like the battery that came with your Inspire 2, this is a 4280mAh, lithium-ion polymer (LiPo) battery that yields between 25 and 27 minutes of flight time, depending on conditions and which Zenmuse system you use.

In addition to enhanced flight time, the Intelligent Flight Battery uses a built-in 70W self-heating system capable of heating itself to 41°F every minute. This self-heating function can be enabled either automatically or manually. The management unit constantly monitors battery status, making all information, including battery level and battery temperature, easily visible in the DJI GO app.
