Bundled together for your convenience, this Sennheiser MKE 8060 Podcasting Kit offers premium items for podcasting from your home. First, you get an excellent shotgun-style mic in the Sennheiser MKE 8060, a phantom-powered shotgun mic that is often used in professional applications, as it excels at picking up speech. It offers a transparent, uncolored sound in both on-axis and off-axis use, meaning the sound shouldn’t change if you move around the mic while you podcast. Its included foam windscreen minimizes pops and plosives.
Also included is an SSL 2 2×2 USB interface, which offers a transparent audio path. Use the supplied XLR cable to connect the mic to the interface. A shockmount designed for shotgun mics is included. Affix the supplied boom arm to your desk, and you can mount your microphone in the same manner a professional radio broadcasting station does, giving your setup a sleek appearance. With closed-back headphones, you can monitor your audio without letting it bleed into the resulting recording.
Sennheiser MKH 8060 Moisture-Resistant Short Shotgun Microphone
Whether used on a boompole or attached to a camera, the Sennheiser MKH 8060 moisture-resistant short shotgun microphone can help you achieve superb audio capture in demanding conditions for your next professional film, TV, or location recording. Mix-ready sound quality is provided by its sharp directivity, low noise, and high output. Plus, there are no controls to worry about; the MKH 8060 delivers the reliability you need for high-pressure gigs.
The microphone exhibits a supercardioid polar pattern at low to midrange frequencies and transitions to a lobar pattern in high frequencies, providing uniform attenuation of 10 to 20 dB from 125 Hz to 1 kHz between 90° and 120° off axis. The rejection pattern for high frequencies is also consistent, further contributing to the mic’s transparent, undistorted off-axis tone. Your dialogue, foley, and sound effects can be recorded with full dynamics and clarity, thanks to the MKH 8060’s wide frequency response, transformerless output, and high SPL handling.
Performs in Adverse Environmental Conditions
When your work takes you outdoors, you’re bound to encounter humidity and condensation, which can cause many mics to fail. The MKH 8060’s RF circuit design makes it highly immune to moisture, allowing you to reliably capture high-quality audio in normal and adverse environmental conditions.
Professional Sound Quality
Offering the same sonic signature as Sennheiser’s other 8000-Series microphones, the MKH 8060 was engineered with the experienced professional in mind. Its 50 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response incorporates a gentle rise above 3 kHz to increase intelligibility and a natural bass roll-off to mitigate rumble. Its low self-noise of 11 dBA and ultrahigh sensitivity of -24 dB enable studio-worthy signal purity without requiring noise reduction and gain boosting in postproduction.
Phantom Powered
The MKH 8060 boasts a transformerless and fully floating balanced output for optimal signal integrity. Thanks to its 3-pin XLR output and compliance with 44 to 52 VDC phantom power, the MKH 8060 is compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.
Digital Compatibility
When used with the optional MZD 8000 digital module, the MKH 8060 becomes a digital microphone that outputs AES42 signal at up to 24-bit / 192 kHz resolution and allows remote control of DSP functions such as low-cut filtering and attenuation.
Ideal for Boompole or Camera Mounting
The MKH 8060’s metal body features a nonreflective Nextel coating to prevent distracting visual reflections. Mount the MKH 8060 directly on a stand or boompole using the supplied mic clip, or attach it to a camera with a shoe shockmount such as the Smallrig 1859. Alternatively, place the MKH 8060 in the separately available Sennheiser MZS 20-1 combination shockmount, pistol grip, and stand adapter to prevent the transfer of vibrations to the microphone.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The MKH 8060 has a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Sennheiser MZH 20-1 furry windshield (available separately).
Solid State Logic SSL 2 – 2×2 USB Audio Interface
The Solid State Logic SSL 2 is a desktop USB audio interface designed for engineers who want the legendary sound of SSL gear in a project-studio form factor. This interface captures audio at sample rates and resolutions of up to 192 kHz / 24-bit.
The SSL 2 offers two combination XLR-1/4″ inputs for microphones, line signals, and Hi-Z instruments such as guitars and basses. Two 1/4″ outputs are provided for monitors, and a 1/4″ headphone output is on hand for private listening.
The interface itself offers a simple and elegant panel setup with a prominent monitor level knob and smaller controls for your headphone out and monitor mix. The monitor mix knob can be used to counter any latency from recording at high buffer rates in your DAW. Crank it counterclockwise all the way, and you’ll be monitoring the input path alone. You can introduce more of the USB signal by rotating the knob to the right. Each input section offers switches for 48V phantom power, line signal, or Hi-Z signal, as well as 5-segment metering and gain knobs. All knobs and switches are reminiscent of iconic SSL consoles.
Underneath the gain knob on both inputs you’ll note the Legacy 4K button. This feature helps you bring dull, uninspiring audio to life as you record it, doing so by adding subtle harmonic distortion and a high-frequency boost. The boost and the distortion are both analog processes that take their cue from the sound of SSL 4000 consoles, hence the name 4K.
Rounding things out, the interface includes the SSL Production Pack, a software bundle offering native plug-ins, DAWs, samples, loops, and virtual instruments. Purchase the SSL 2 and you also get VocalStrip 2, DrumStrip, Pro Tools | First, Ableton Live Lite, 1.5 GB of samples from Loopcloud, Komplete Start, and more.

Kopul Premier Quad Pro 5000 Series XLR M to XLR F Microphone Cable – 10′ (3 m), Black
The Kopul Premier Quad Pro 5000 Series XLR M to XLR F Microphone Cable – 10′ (3 m) is a studio- and broadcast-quality 4-conductor cable precision engineered for maximum rejection of RFI and electro-magnetic interference, extremely quiet performance, high flexibility and durability. Its twisted quad-conductor design features oxygen-free copper and allows for excellent conductivity, flexibility, low capacitance, and tensile strength.
This design affords the conductors a twist pitch length of only 2cm, reducing interference by assuring the minimum amount of the conductor is parallel to interference sources at any given section. The result is increased rejection of electro-magnetic and RFI noise, even in close proximity to the source. Cotton yarn is packed in to reduce friction between conductors and prevent unwanted electrostatic build-up and microphonic noise. The 99% braided TAC shield provides additional noise protection and corrosion resistance. Its Neutrik XX gold connectors provide high-quality, corrosion-free connectivity, and each solder point is individually shrink-wrapped for additional protection and to meet network broadcast facility standards.
Premier Quad Pro 5000 Series cables are ideal for use in the most demanding studio, touring, and broadcast applications.
Precision-engineered twisted quad-conductor design
2cm pitch twist length for greater induced noise reduction
99% tinned copper braided shield for long-lasting protection against RFI and EMI
Ultra-low capacitance for accurate signal reproduction
Cotton yarn to reduce electrostatic and microphonic noise
