Room Compensation
The resonant vibrations in the room and the boundary effect from the walls affect the sound reproduced by the speakers. BeoLab 90 is equipped with new Bang & Olufsen technology – Active Room Compensation, which compensates for the sound depending on the influence of the room, furniture, location of speakers and listening position.
This cutting-edge technology delivers amazing sound exactly where it is needed. In other words, it is the speaker, not the room, that defines the sound.

Sound beam width control
Almost like switching between a spotlight and a bulb, controlling the width of the sound beam gives you the opportunity to narrow or expand the distribution of sound.
Narrowing the sound beam ensures direct and accurate delivery to your preferred listening position. Invite your friends to watch the movie, and just expand the beam – and everyone will hear equally great sound. Or expand the beam to provide a rich 360o omnidirectional sound if you are having a party.
Sound beam direction control
Most speakers are designed as standard: front and rear, and sound is emitted forward. This is quite enough when the listener is located directly in front of the speaker, but with a modern flexible lifestyle, this is far from always the case.
Controlling the direction of the sound beam allows us to solve this problem by defining one of the five directions as “acoustically frontal,” and the listener is always in front and in the center of the sound.
Powerful audio center
Under the elegant BeoLab 90, there are 18 premium speakers, 14 ICEpower amplifiers and four additional Class D amplifiers, with a total musical power and accuracy of 8,200 watts per device.

The 18 latest Scan-Speak speakers are housed in carefully designed locations and directions for maximum performance in terms of frequency, time and space.
The floor-standing speaker has 14 channels of the latest generation of ICEpower amplifiers, forming a compact and high-performance platform developed by Bang & Olufsen, and four additional Class D amplifiers – all made specifically for the BeoLab 90. In total, the amplifiers can provide up to 8,200 watts of power.
The BeoLab 90 can sound as loud as if you were in a concert in the front row of the stadium, and as detailed as if you were listening to your albums in a professional recording studio.

Design
BeoLab 90 was developed in accordance with the main idea that form is dictated by function. The position and direction of the speakers are determined by the acoustic performance requirements. The cooling plates of the electronic elements were placed so that the rising heat did not affect the acoustic characteristics.
The design is based on a complex case made of aluminum, the total weight of which is more than 65 kg, which provides it with extreme strength. To reduce the visual effect of massiveness, the column is covered with acoustically permeable fabric, stretched like sails, frozen in front of the speakers. A curved wooden base visually raises the large structure above the floor, giving the impression of a soaring BeoLab 90.

Manufacture
The BeoLab 90 floor standing speaker was not so easy to make. The upper part of the column is made of plastic 10 mm thick, and the main body is made of monolithic aluminum. They are connected, then all amplifiers, speakers and software are installed, and at the last stage, the column is “put on” in a translucent fabric and aluminum arches are installed.
No one said it would be easy to create the most advanced speaker in the world.
