FREEFLY Alta 8 Pro with Futaba

Following up on the heels of the original Alta 8, the FREEFLY Alta 8 Pro features open PX4 integration that adds waypoint technology, PX4/QGroundContol/Pixhawk flight planning, 3rd-party app/utility integration using Dronecode or MAVlink, and advanced, high-bandwidth position hold. Waypoint technology is a GPS navigation feature that allows preprogrammed movements and autopilot functionality. The Alta 8 Pro is an octo-rotor drone that lets you mount an optional MoVI gimbal with a camera weighing up to a combined 20 lb. The gimbal and camera can be mounted on top or below the airframe to capture aerial imaging from virtually any angle. This Alta 8 Pro package includes the drone and a Futaba controller.

The Alta 8 Pro uses sinusoidal motor drives that are custom-tuned to match the drone’s F45 motor and are optimized for speed, reliability, and robustness. The silent drive motor controls provide the benefit of advanced closed-loop control of the propellers. At 13 lb, the design of the Alta 8 Pro is relatively lightweight. Moreover, it has folding props and swan neck booms, so it’s one of the more portable multirotor drones. The Alta 8 Pro achieves high-bandwidth height hold by fusing readings from the barometer, accelerometers, and GPS. It provides precise positioning by combining GPS data with the IMU and barometer, enabling it to maintain a specific position even in challenging weather conditions. As for flight planning, long-range telemetry modems provide you with access to real-time mission planning and critical flight information from over 1000′ away.

The Alta 8 Pro comes fully assembled and includes all the tools and accessories required for attaching your MoVI. Batteries are sold separately. A variety of other accessories are available and sold separately as well. The FREEFLY Alta App is included as a free download.
