Schoeps CMIT 5 Shotgun Microphone (Blue)
Sized between the short MiniCMIT and the long SuperCMIT, the blue Schoeps CMIT 5 shotgun microphone is an excellent all-around boom mic for indoor and outdoor applications. Highly regarded for film, TV, and location recording, the CMIT 5 offers customizable tone and predictable directionality, even when rotated.
Three selectable filters let you manage boom noise, proximity effect, high-frequency emphasis to ensure balanced, professional audio quality. Special construction and filtering effectively inhibits interference from various sources such as radio, TV, and cellular frequencies.
The CMIT 5’s supercardioid/lobar polar pattern yields directional characteristics that smoothly increase at higher frequencies while providing low off-axis coloration for natural sound at all angles. With low self-noise, moderate sensitivity, and high SPL handling, the CMIT 5 delivers sonic performance deserving of premium mic preamps.
Professional Sound Quality
Thanks to a polar pattern that stays the same in the vertical and horizontal planes, the CMIT 5 produces consistent sound quality at any point of rotation. With directionality that increases smoothly at high frequencies and an accurate 40 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, the CMIT 5 is optimized for neutral, transparent capture of dialogue, foley, sound effects, and instruments. Considering its low self-noise of 13 dBA and moderate sensitivity of -35 dB, it performs best when paired with a clean, high-gain mic preamp.
Customizable Tone
Though the CMIT 5 is engineered to yield a neutral sonic signature, it offers three buttons to alter its tonal balance. Turn on the treble emphasis for a 5 dB boost at 10 kHz, which increases speech intelligibility and helps compensate for high-frequency loss caused by windscreens. Activate the gentle bass roll-off filter (6 dB/octave below 300 Hz) to offset proximity effect, and use the steep low-cut filter (18 dB/octave below 80 Hz) to suppress boom noise and rumble.
Pairs of LEDs next to each push button indicate the status of the filters. Even in darkness, the user can read the settings and see that the microphone is operational. The settings are retained when the microphone is switched off.
RFI Shield
The CMIT 5 utilizes special construction and filtering to provide a high standard of measurable immunity from radio-frequency interference (RFI) caused by sources such as switching power supplies, lighting controls, AM/FM radio, digital radio and TV, cellular phones, and broadband communications. The switches in the CMIT 5 are mounted on a circuit board with an integrated shielding layer, thereby providing a fully-sealed housing for the rest of the circuitry.
Phantom Powered
The CMIT 5 features a balanced 3-pin XLR output and support for phantom power over 34 VDC, making it compatible with a variety of handheld audio recorders, field recorders, and mixer adapters, as well as built-in preamps on many camcorders and cinema cameras.
Ideal for Boompole Mounting
Mount the CMIT 5 directly on a stand or boompole using the supplied mic clip, or place it in the separately available Rycote INV-7 InVision shockmount to prevent the transfer of vibrations to the microphone.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The CMIT 5 includes a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Rycote Cyclone Windshield Kit (Medium) blimp-style windshield and suspension system (available separately).
Schoeps W 140G Foam Windscreen for Schoeps CMIT5U and MiniCMIT Shotgun Microphones (Gray)
The gray Schoeps W 140G is a windscreen designed to fit a Schoeps CMIT5U or MiniCMIT shotgun microphone and provide significant reduction of plosives and wind noise for sound recordists and boom operators in field recording, interviews, ENG, and film and television production. Its acoustic foam construction protects the mic from moisture and dirt commonly encountered in outdoor environments. W 140 windscreens deliver up to 18 dBA of wind-noise reduction.

Schoeps SG20 Microphone Stand Clamp
The Schoeps SG20 Microphone Stand Adapter is designed to stand mount microphones measuring 20mm or 21mm in diameter. The SG20 features a strong metal housing and a durable plastic clamp. Its base is threaded for 5/8″-27 stands, and a threaded adapter is included to accommodate 3/8″ and 1/2″ mounting. The angle is continuously variable.
Rycote Cyclone Windshield Kit (Large)
Ideal for a multitude of outdoor ENG, broadcast, and film applications, this large Cyclone Windshield Kit from Rycote features a two-piece “Z-Locking” basket design that magnetically affixes around your microphone, isolating the mic from wind-caused noise. Up to 50 dB of reduction can be achieved with use of the Cyclone Windshield alone, and >60 dB is possible when used with a Windjammer on top of it. Increased transparency is achieved due to the cone-like shape, which reduces reflections from parallel surfaces in the recording environment, providing clean audio recordings during outdoor interviews, location shoots, and more. It’s designed to provide wind noise reduction that exceeds traditional modular-style windshield/windjammer combined performance.
The Cyclone introduces a “multi-suspension” design that provides isolation against handling noise, cable-borne noises, and windshield basket self-noise. This multi-suspension design inhibits noise and vibration induced by the windshield itself from being mechanically transmitted, thereby improving recording quality.
The kit includes the Cyclone Suspension fitted with 72-shore Universal Lyres, a Cyclone XLR cable, a large Cyclone Windshield, a pair of Universal Lyres 62-shore for lightweight microphones, and a hex key driver for making adjustments to the Lyres on the suspension.
