The Schoeps MiniCMIT CWS Set is a miniature shotgun microphone with a premium windshield designed for mono recording of dialog and instruments indoors or outdoors in windy conditions. It includes a MiniCMIT miniature shotgun condenser microphone, Rycote Cyclone windshield, and wood box.
The MiniCMIT boasts a wide frequency response, excellent off-axis rejection, and a fixed 24 dB/octave low-cut filter at 70 Hz. The included Rycote Cyclone windshield provides acoustic transparency, effective protection against noise from wind, a shock-isolating Lyre mic mount, and a tidy exit for the integrated cable, all in a compact enclosure.
Schoeps MiniCMIT Short Shotgun Microphone (Blue)
Obtain the sonic characteristics of the highly regarded CMIT 5 in a compact and lightweight body with the blue Schoeps MiniCMIT short shotgun microphone, a top-tier performer for camera- or boompole-mounted use in film, TV, and location recording applications. Compliant with P12 and P48 phantom powering, the MiniCMIT can be used with professional and consumer devices.
A fixed 24 dB/octave low-cut filter at 70 Hz ensures that excessive boom noise and rumble will be kept under control. Special construction and filtering effectively inhibits interference from various sources such as radio, TV, and cellular frequencies.
The MiniCMIT’s supercardioid/lobar polar pattern yields directional characteristics that smoothly increase at higher frequencies while providing low off-axis coloration for natural sound at all angles. With low self-noise, moderate sensitivity, and high SPL handling, the MiniCMIT delivers sonic performance deserving of premium mic preamps.
Professional Sound Quality
The MiniCMIT features the same frequency response curve as the CMIT 5, allowing either microphone to be used without altering the sound. Thanks to a polar pattern that stays the same in the vertical and horizontal planes, the MiniCMIT produces consistent sound quality at any point of rotation.
With directionality that increases smoothly at high frequencies and a 60 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, the MiniCMIT is optimized for neutral, transparent capture of dialogue, foley, sound effects, and instruments. Considering its low self-noise of 14 dBA and moderate sensitivity of -35 dB, it performs best with a clean, high-gain mic preamp.
RFI Shield
The MiniCMIT utilizes special construction and filtering to provide a high standard of measurable immunity from radio-frequency interference (RFI) caused by sources such as switching power supplies, lighting controls, AM/FM radio, digital radio and TV, cellular phones, and broadband communications.
P12 or P48 Phantom Powered
The MiniCMIT features a balanced 3-pin XLR output, low current draw, and support for P12 and P48 phantom power, making it compatible with a variety of professional and consumer devices such as handheld audio recorders, portable field recorders, mixer adapters, and cinema cameras.
Ideal for Boompole or Camera Mounting
Mount the MiniCMIT directly on a stand or boompole using the supplied mic clip, affix it to a camera with an optional shoe shockmount such as the Rycote InVision Video, or place it in the separately available Rycote INV-6 InVision shockmount to prevent the transfer of vibrations to the microphone when attached to a boompole.
Windscreen Minimizes Wind Noise
The MiniCMIT includes a foam windscreen to reduce unwanted wind noise from breezes, fans, heaters, and air conditioners. For maximum reduction of wind noise in indoor or outdoor environments, consider the Rycote Cyclone Windshield Kit (Small) blimp-style windshield and suspension system (available separately).
Rycote Cyclone Windshield Kit (Small)
Ideal for a multitude of outdoor ENG, broadcast, and film applications, this small Cyclone Windshield Kit from Rycote features a two-piece “Z-Locking” basket design that magnetically affixes around your microphone, isolating the mic from wind-caused noise. Up to 50 dB of reduction can be achieved with use of the Cyclone Windshield alone, and >60 dB is possible when used with a Windjammer on top of it. Increased transparency is achieved due to the cone-like shape, which reduces reflections from parallel surfaces in the recording environment, providing clean audio recordings during outdoor interviews, location shoots, and more. It’s designed to provide wind noise reduction that exceeds traditional modular-style windshield/windjammer combined performance.
The Cyclone introduces a “multi-suspension” design that provides isolation against handling noise, cable-borne noises, and windshield basket self-noise. This multi-suspension design inhibits noise and vibration induced by the windshield itself from being mechanically transmitted, thereby improving recording quality.
The kit includes the Cyclone Suspension fitted with 72-shore Universal Lyres, a Cyclone XLR cable, a large Cyclone Windshield, a pair of Universal Lyres 62-shore for lightweight microphones, and a hex key driver for making adjustments to the Lyres on the suspension.
