Capture and realize immersive 8K 360° video with the YI Technology HALO. Comprising of 17 individual camera modules, 16 around the perimeter and one upward-facing, inside a lightweight unifying chassis, the HALO can record everything around it, and with Google’s Jump Assembler stitch it to create high-resolution 2D or 3D video for playback on mobile devices, computers, and VR headsets.
Using the LCD touchscreen, exposure can be controlled, media can be managed, and general settings can be changed. If video is not your thing, the HALO can also be set up to record time-lapses of varying lengths, or take photos that allow your audience to look around the camera and see the entire space. Recording and shutter release can be activated using the included Bluetooth wireless remote, or with an Android smartphone.
Right out of the box, the HALO requires minimal setup. Use the 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads to mount it to a tripod, connect the included battery or power supply, pop in your memory cards, and begin shooting. When you’re done, the HALO unit and all the included accessories can be packed away inside the Pelican 1610 waterproof hard case for storage and transport.
Exposure Settings
Image quality settings such as ISO, white balance, exposure compensation, shutter speed, and flat color are supported in the HALO to empower filmmakers to capture how they like. The HALO has a built-in touchscreen for these settings, as well as status monitoring with a dashboard which issues smart alerts if it detects that a microSD card is nearly full, battery power is low, or other similar issues to minimize downtime and protect your recordings.
Included 93Wh Battery
While recording, the HALO consumes 50 watts of power. The included rechargeable battery can last over 100 minutes during continuous shooting and can be swapped with a spare when depleted. The included AC Adapter can power the HALO while charging the battery at the same time. The HALO supports external batteries with a separately available D-Tap cable.
Control via Android App
Built-in 5 GHz Wi-Fi allows you to securely and remotely control your HALO with the Android smartphone app. You don’t need to be at the camera to set up and shoot. The app also lets you preview your frame so that you get the right shot every time. The HALO also comes with a built-in LCD touchscreen control panel for local control.
Stitch with Google Jump Assembler
The HALO is fully compatible and optimized for the Jump Assembler. The metadata generated by the HALO helps Jump understand the shooting situation to create a high-quality stitch. The stitching workflow is completely automatic so you’re free to concentrate on your shoot.
Easy to Transport
The assembled HALO unit weighs less than 8 pounds, including the battery. It can be easily moved by itself, or inside the included Pelican 1610 hard case.
Modular Design
The HALO was designed to be upgradable with replaceable parts. Two extra camera units are included, in case one fails during a shoot. If a firmware update is released, all cameras can be updated through the control panel.
